Your First File Upload
Uploading files to Onlinedrive is simple. Here's how to get your first file stored in the cloud.
Method 1: Drag and Drop
The easiest way to upload:
- Open Files in the client panel
- Drag a file (or multiple files) from your computer
- Drop it anywhere on the file browser area
- You'll see an upload progress indicator
- Once complete, your file appears in the current folder
Method 2: Upload Button
- Right-click an empty area of the file browser and choose Upload Files (or Upload Folder to upload a whole folder)
- Select one or more files from your computer's file picker
- The upload begins automatically
- Files appear in your current folder when complete
Upload Details
- Smaller files (up to 100 MB) upload in a single request
- Large files are uploaded in parts, so if your connection drops only the unfinished parts are sent again — uploads resume rather than restart
- The maximum size for a single file is 5 GB on every plan
- You can upload multiple files at once
- Progress is shown for each file
- If an upload fails, you can retry it
Where Do Files Go?
Files are uploaded to:
- The current folder you're viewing (or the root if you're at the top level)
- The active workspace shown in the workspace chip in the Files header (My Files unless you've switched to a shared workspace)
After Upload
Once your file is uploaded, you can:
- Preview it by clicking on it (images, videos, PDFs, and more are supported)
- Star it for quick access
- Share it with others
- Move it to a different folder
- Download it back to your computer
Tips
- Check your storage quota before uploading large files
- Organize files into folders before bulk uploads to keep things tidy
- HEIC photos from iPhones are supported and will preview correctly
