Organizing Files with Folders

Folders help you keep your files organized and easy to find. Here's how to create and manage folders in Onlinedrive.

Creating a Folder

  1. Navigate to where you want the new folder (the root level or inside another folder)
  2. Right-click an empty area of the file browser and choose New Folder
  3. Enter a name for your folder
  4. Click Create

Your new folder appears immediately in the file browser.

Moving Files into Folders

You can move files into folders using the context menu:

  1. Right-click on a file (or click the three-dot menu)
  2. Select Move to...
  3. Choose the destination folder
  4. Click Move

Navigating Folders

  • Click a folder to open it and see its contents
  • Use the breadcrumb navigation at the top to go back to parent folders
  • Click any breadcrumb item to jump directly to that level

Folder Actions

Right-click a folder to access these options:

  • Open Folder — Navigate into the folder
  • Rename — Change the folder name
  • Move to... / Copy to... — Move or copy the folder somewhere else
  • Share — Share the folder with a link or with specific people
  • Move to Trash — Delete the folder and its contents

Tips for Organization

  • Create top-level folders for major categories (e.g., "Projects", "Photos", "Documents")
  • Use descriptive folder names so you can find things quickly
  • Nest folders for detailed organization (e.g., "Projects / Website / Images")
  • Remember that folders belong to the current workspace — switching workspaces shows different folders
