Creating a Workspace
Workspaces let you organize files for different projects or teams. Shared workspaces are included on the Professional plan and above:
| Plan | Workspaces | Members per workspace |
|---|---|---|
| Professional | 3 | 5 |
| Business | 10 | 20 |
| Premium | 15 | 35 |
| Corporate | 20 | 50 |
| Ultimate | 30 | 75 |
| Enterprise | 40 | 100 |
Here's how to create one.
Steps to Create a Workspace
- Click Workspaces in the sidebar
- Click Create Workspace
- Enter a name for your workspace (e.g., "Marketing Team" or "Project Alpha")
- Click Create
Your new workspace is created immediately, and you're set as the owner.
After Creating a Workspace
Once created, you can:
- Switch to it using the workspace chip in the header of the Files view
- Upload files to it (make sure it's the active workspace)
- Invite others to collaborate
- Manage members and their roles
Workspace Limits
- The number of workspaces and members per workspace depends on your plan (see the table above)
- Each workspace has its own set of files and folders
- Files uploaded to a workspace count toward the owner's storage quota
- A workspace lives in the same storage region as the drive account it was created in
Personal vs. Team Workspaces
- My Files (your personal area, created automatically) is for your private files
- Additional workspaces are for sharing and collaboration
- You can use My Files for everything, or create separate workspaces per project
Tips
- Name workspaces clearly so team members know which one to use
- Create one workspace per project or department
- Keep personal files in My Files for privacy
